Living away from home can be tough. I have now been living in Japan for about 7 years. I do miss my family, but I do like the independence. The way I have kept myself from getting too homesick is by staying in contact with my family almost everyday. We exchange emails, texts and on special occasions, letters. I think it is so important to write your thoughts down and reflect on your life as often as you can. It really helps me stay positive and appreciate what I have, where I am, and what I have experienced. I had to send a letter through this postbox because it was just too adorable. Even just looking around and acknowledging things that make you happy, your entire perspective can change.
Appreciate the little things in life and see the beauty of things.
